Seattle Renewal Project Human Dignity is a community development cooperative, it is all about our neighborhoods, providing friendly services, creating new jobs and wealth; building a venture capital fund, controlled by its local resident and worker owners; their board of directors elected by a democratic one-person one-vote system. Human Dignity starts by turning Seattle into a destination for new ideas and more opportunities; starting with a neighborhood grocery store, a café, and a business incubator… working together, inventing it here, building it here, and keeping the profits here. Worker cooperative structures have many advantages, simple to create, inexpensive to establish, offer significant tax benefits, build local assets and are easily understood by workers and owners. HD’s start-up and ongoing revenue sources will be a $25 membership registration fee, plus opening a $50 (5 venture capital units @ $10) voting right investment account from each local resident member; applicable to all worker members as well. Common good and mutual aid is both our primary focus and strategy; each new co-operative, purposely pre-formulated to merge for highest and best results, can be easily divided, combined, duplicated and/or franchised. Historically a reallocation of jobs, workers and capital, inter-connected to the needs of new ideas and more opportunities, has always been the major force behind all productivity gains and the primary source of ever improving America’s living standards.
